The Keeshond Donor's Circle Trust presents a seminar with Michelle Kutzler, DVM, Phd, DACT -Common Causes Of Neonatal Losses & How You Can Prevent Them-
Dr. Kutzler is a canine reproduction specialist & an associate professor at OSU. She has a PhD in reproductive physiology from Cornell University & is board-certified in veterinary reproduction (Theriogenology). She is a very popular speaker and combines the academic with practical experience. Her presentation on “Common Causes Of Neonatal Losses & How You Can Prevent Them” is not to be missed by the novice or experienced breeder. This presentation is focused towards breeders and those interested in keeping young puppies alive. Dr. Kutzler will include information on reducing the chances of neonatal illness and loss from canine herpes, hypoglycemia and hypothermia. According to Dr. Kutzler, “The early neonatal period is the most dangerous time our puppies must pass through. Knowledge of the proper timing of events and early warning signs when things are not progressing normally are keys to survival. Twenty percent of all puppies will be lost during this stage if intervention does not occur. Learn what you can do to be savvier in the nursery and when you need to call for assistance.” In addition, new and ground-breaking research in the field of canine reproduction ongoing at Oregon State University will be discussed.
